Idaho: Agencies work together on Weekend Underage Drinking Patrol

On Saturday night, July 20, officers from multiple agencies collaborated as part of an underage drinking and youth impaired driving emphasis patrol. Part of this event was funded by a grant from the national Center for Alcohol Policy and Drug Free Idaho.

Iowa:  Liquor Sales Up, Beer Down in Iowa

Iowa beer sales fell flat last year, but spirits were soaring.  Sales of distilled spirits were up 5.6 percent in fiscal 2013, spurred by the popularity of whiskeys and bourbons as well as cream liqueurs like RumChata. Beer sales went down about 6 percent from fiscal 2012 as Iowans tried the trendy new drinks, said Tonya Dusold, spokeswoman for the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division.

When it comes to the new liquor store being built next to Wegmans on Harry L Drive, the grocery chain is keeping it all in the family. Jason Wehle, the son-in-law of CEO Danny Wegman, is listed as the principal of Johnson City Liquor & Wine. Its parent company is Johnson City Wine Partners LLC, which is headquartered in Rochester - just seven miles from Wegmans Food Markets Inc.'s headquarters. Wehle, also a Wegmans employee, is married to Nicole Wegman, one of Danny Wegman's daughters.
